Cyber Insurance Renewal

If your cyber insurance is up for renewal this year, you may be in for a surprise. The questionnaire is probably longer, the questions are tougher, and traditional antivirus alone will not check the box anymore.

Most carriers now expect to see real endpoint detection and response in place. That means a platform that watches for suspicious behavior on every device, not just known virus signatures. If an attacker steals credentials or runs a fresh piece of ransomware that has never been seen before, EDR is what gives you a fighting chance to catch it and shut it down.

A few things carriers are commonly asking about:

  1. Is EDR or MDR deployed on every endpoint, including servers?
  2. Is it actively monitored around the clock?
  3. Are patches applied on a known schedule?
  4. Is multi factor authentication required on email and remote access?

Answering "yes" with evidence usually means better coverage and better pricing. Answering "no" can mean denied coverage or higher premiums.
